This is a sterling silver rhodochrosite , freshwater cultured pearl and shell pearl necklace and earring set . The necklace is approximately 19" long. The necklace has a lobster claw closure. The earrings are for pierced ears. The earrings are about from the top of the hooks 2" x 1/2". The pendant is about from the top of the bale 1 15/16" x 13/16".
RHODOCHROSITE
Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral. It ranges in color from pink to red with bands of white , yellow and brown. Rhodochrosite is associated with silver mines. It is found in Argentina, Romania, South Africa, Russia, Peru, Mexico and Japan. It is the official state mineral of Colorado.
CARE
Clean in detergent free soapy water, rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Do not clean in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Store away from other jewelry as it can scratch. Don't wear when using household chemicals or expose to excessive heat.
Pearls
Jewelry styles come and go, but pearl jewelry is timeless. Freshwater cultured pears are created by mussels and are mostly farmed in China. The mussels are mostly nucleated, but a newer method of a bead being introduced is being used in order for bigger sized pearls to be produced. The pearls are available in several colors from white, cream, pink, orange and pastal colors. which can be due to natural cultivation, or they can be treated for many different colors. Pearls are organic and are composed of calcium carbonate and require proper care.
CARE
Store pearls in a velvet or soft material drawstring bag. Close clasps to prevent scratching the pearls. Store away from other jewelry to prevent scratching. Don't store in a plastic bag. Don't hang pearls it could cause stretching. Store flat. Don't store in sunlight or near heat.
Put pearls on after apply cosmetics, hairspray and perfume. Don't wear when doing housework, playing sport, bathing or swimming. Avoid contact with vinegar, fruit juice and detergents..
Don't use harsh chemicals and acid. Don't use an ultrasonic cleaner or jewelry cleaner. Wipe with a soft cloth after wearing to remove perspiration. If using water use only distilled water and dab with a soft cloth and wipe dry. Tap water contains chlorine which is not good for pearls. Don't clean with a brush. Don't stretch pearls when cleaning.
